FAQ

About the site

Who runs Recommended Optics?

The Recommended Optics Editorial Team writes the site, which started in 2023 and is operated from the United States. See the About Us page for more.

What topics does it cover?

Rifle scopes, spotting scopes, binoculars, telescopes and rangefinders, through buying guides and product listings. It also explains common optics terms so that specification sheets are easier to read.

Does Recommended Optics sell or ship anything?

No. The site has no shop, no cart and no user accounts. Every purchase is made on a third-party store that handles payment, shipping and delivery under its own terms, so questions about an order belong with that store.

How pages are made

How are products picked?

Our editorial team weighs usefulness to readers, search demand and availability in stores. The Editorial Policy has the details.

Are the products tested?

No. There is no lab or hands-on testing. Pages rely on manufacturer specifications, public product information and aggregated buyer feedback, and the Recommended Optics Editorial Team reviews every draft before it goes live.

Where does the information come from?

From manufacturer specifications, public product information and aggregated buyer feedback. We summarize those sources and do not add measurements of our own.

Does AI write the pages?

AI writing tools help produce drafts. A person on the editorial team then reviews each one before publishing.

Money and prices

How does the site make money?

Through affiliate commissions. When you buy through an Amazon link, the site may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Read the Affiliate Disclosure.

Are the prices on the site current?

Not always. Stores change prices and stock often, and we cannot update every page the moment a price moves. The store’s page is the one to trust when you are ready to buy.

Why does a store show a different price?

The price may have changed since we published, or a different seller or a sale may be listed. This is normal, and the Disclaimer explains why the store is the final source.

After you buy

Who handles returns and warranties?

The store you bought from, or the manufacturer. Recommended Optics cannot process returns or repairs, but Warranty & Returns Help lists practical first steps.
