This policy describes how the Recommended Optics Editorial Team decides what to cover and how each page is produced. It is meant to tell you plainly what stands behind the information you read.
Choosing topics and products
We pick subjects in rifle scopes, spotting scopes, binoculars, telescopes and rangefinders using three tests:
- Reader usefulness: will the page help someone decide what to buy?
- Search demand: are people already looking for this?
- Availability: can the product actually be found in stores?
Brands cannot buy coverage, and the site has no paid placements.
How we research
We draw on manufacturer specifications, public product information and aggregated buyer feedback. That means datasheets, manuals, store listings and the patterns that show up across many owner reviews. Where sources disagree we say so, and where a detail cannot be confirmed we leave it out.
To be clear about the limits: there is no lab or hands-on testing. No one on the team looks through the lenses or measures anything. Our pages report what published sources say.
Buyer feedback is treated as a general signal, such as a complaint repeated across many reviews. It is never taken as proof of how a single unit behaved.
Writing and review
Drafts are written with AI writing tools, which is a normal part of how we work. Each draft is reviewed by the Recommended Optics Editorial Team before it is published. Reviewers look for these things:
- Figures that match the manufacturer’s published numbers
- Claims that the sources actually support
- Clear, calm wording without hype
The team publishes under one name and does not list individual authors. Recommended Optics does not sell products, and it shows no display ads at the moment.
Commissions and recommendations
The site earns affiliate commissions through some links, but commissions never decide what is recommended. Weak points stay in the text whether or not a product pays. See the Affiliate Disclosure for the full explanation.
Reviews and updates
Models, prices and features change, so pages can age. We revisit content when we spot a change, when a reader reports a problem, or when a topic needs a fresh look. We do not promise a fixed schedule for every page. The store’s page is always the last word on price, as the Disclaimer notes.
